Investment potential

Katowice is a dynamically developing city, inhabited by about 300,000 residents. The potential of human resources is much greater, looking at the entire Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis (GZM) with 2.2 million people.

Katowice is a city of great transformations that has been going on for several years. Until recently, the City, like the whole region, was associated with heavy industry and mining. Now the structure of our economy is changing. Thanks to appropriate human resources, scientific back-up facilities and favorable location and unusual values of this area, Katowice and the Metropolis are an ideal place to invest and live. Our city is characterized by an unusually large share of green areas, which represent almost a half of its area.

The city is well connected internally and externally. Katowice has the best developed road network in Poland, so the communication between the towns of the Górnosląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis is running smoothly. This is important because people in the region often work in a different city than they live in. The close proximity between cities and their good communication enable workers to travel smoothly.

Within the radius of 100 km from Katowice, three international airports are located, including one of the most dynamically developing airports in Europe - Katowice Airport.

Undeniably strong assets of the region consist in its location in the centre of the Eastern and Central Europe, availability of highly skilled human potential, well developed transport infrastructure, investment incentives, including these ones which are provided by the Katowice Special Economic Zone, business environment and a wide range of possibilities for leisure time.

Human resources in the region are based on more than 4,5 million inhabitants, with almost 50% of them concentrated in the Metropolis. Approximately 105,000 students in the Silesian Voivodeship, including more than 85,000 in the GZM. There are ca. 53,000 students in Katowice.
