Education

Potential of the region is based on over 135 thousand students, including 90 thousand in the Katowice Agglomeration. The dominating profiles of studies relate predominantly to economic and technical studies. The Silesian region is considered as one of the biggest in Poland academic and scientific centres. The University of Silesia, Medical University of Silesia, University of Economics, Academy of Music, Academy of Fine Arts and the Silesian University of Technology are the most dynamic higher schools in the Silesian region.

Foreign languages

According to recent surveys carried out by CEBOS, the percentage of Poles who speak foreign languages is comparable to other EU countries and is growing.

Approximately 45% of Poles speak at least one other language; 25% indicate English, 20% Russian, 12% German; a smaller percentage speaks Slovakian, Dutch, Spanish and other languages.
